I know Saint Clare as a most ardent follower of Saint Francis and his life of poverty. Going over a short account of her life today, her feast day, I gain the additional knowledge of her deep reverence for the Holy Eucharist, so much so that when the Saracens threatened the attack their convent, sick as she was, she held the Holy Eucharist before them and prayed to God to spare her nuns. The attackers left. What a lady!
